Do you ever wonder why you only go on first dates? Are you about to go on a date? Maybe you need to brush up on your first date etiquette! When you go on dates, it’s important that you know how to treat someone else. Use these tips as ways to start dating the right way.
Be On Time
The first impression is the most important when it comes to first dates. How you appear now is how they will think of you for a while. If you are late, that’s already one mark against you. Of course, sometimes there is nothing that we can do about tardiness, whether it’s the traffic or family, sometimes being late is inevitable. If you are running late for a date, the most considerate thing you can do is let someone know. There is nothing worse than waiting for a substantial amount of time for someone to show up for a date and then they say, “sorry I was in traffic”. Don’t get me wrong, there is nothing wrong with traffic, as said previously, it’s inevitable, but all you have to do is let the other person know.
Dress for the Occasion
Again, this goes back to having a good first impression. If you are going to something active wear active clothes but still make sure you are presentable. If you are going somewhere casual you should still try to look nice as a gesture.
Have a Plan
When you go on a date, there is usually one person who is making the plans. This person, usually the man, should have a set idea of what you will be doing for the date. Let her know the plans instead of making her choose. When you are making the plans ask her then, just send a text message and say “bowling?” or whatever you were planning on doing. Don’t wait until she gets in the car and then ask her what she wants to do. Having a plan makes you seem as if you’re confident and this is something you want to give off to your date, which leads into our next topic.
Be Confident
Confidence is one of the things that attracts us most to a person. When someone is confident they can achieve a lot. Women like a man who is confident, it shows that they are fearless in dating and they know who they are. Confidence doesn’t necessarily mean you have no fear, but it means you have overcome them and you can totally be yourself. You might want to know how to be confident, and really it’s just being unapologetically you and owning how you feel. With that being said, confidence is not the same as arrogance.
Keep Your Phone Off
When you are on a date, one of the most disrespectful things that you can do is to stay on your phone. It shows the other person that you don’t care about their time. Due to the fact that we stay on our phones so much, someone might not even think about putting it away because it’s not “natural”. Putting your phone away is a way to give your date complete attention and make sure that they are your priority during the time you spend together.
